If your house is thin, where do you park the car?

The Vietnamese, like the Guatemalans, park their vehicles (almost always motorbikes) in their houses. I don't mean in a garage which is separated from the rest of the house by a wall, but in their house - usually the living room. It's true! It was a crazy concept when I saw it in Guatemala, so it's not so surprising to see it again. But I do still think it's crazy.

Perfect example of a Viet home
The Vietnamese (perhaps Asians in general) build their houses differently than the western world. Here, especially in the large cities where space is limited, the houses are very thin and built tall. It's common that they have 3 or 4 floors to save on ground space. On the first floor you'll find only the living room and kitchen. The living room is in front, where the motorbikes are parked, with the kitchen in back. Up the circular, marble stairs, you'll find 2 bedrooms (across from each other). There might be a shared bathroom or each bedroom might have it's own. Another floor up and there'll be 2 more bedrooms with bathrooms. And that's how it is here. A lot of stair climbing and a lot of exhaust fumes in the house.

These might be hotels or homes.
