An interesting fact about the Vietnamese currency: 99% of the time you will only see and receive bills. For the first 2 weeks here, I thought that the country had no coins. After I realized that I hadn't been handling coins, somebody told me that the Vietnamese don't like handling coins. About a week and a half ago, a shop owner gave me a coin for change. I was surprised - it was the first I'd seen. In fact, I thought it might be fake - Monopoly money. I showed it to the students in my first class to verify its authenticity; it's real. And about 3 days ago I received a different coin as change. Who knows, this might up like my Mexico coin collection search!
